R.O.C Scholarship Program was established in 2013 to further assist motivated 6th grade students with verifiable financial needs across the island. The Scholarship program awards yearly scholarships and works to support scholastic excellence, and encourage community building among scholarship recipients. Every year, R.O.C accepts scholarship applications, which include essays, transcripts, recommendations and proof of financial need. Based on these written applications, the R.O.C Scholarship committee identifies a group of finalists to be invited for a brief personal interview with R.O.C co-founders.
R.O.C scholarships are open to 6th grade students in the Jamaica regardless of sex, color or religious background. R.O.C Scholarship Program seeks to provide support to motivated 6th Grade high-achievers, who show potential for academic excellence, is actively involved in “giving back” to their school/community but who expressed financial need. Minimum class average of 80%. Students must have a strong desire to to give back to their schools and/or community.
R.O.C Scholarships are meant to be supplementary. Scholarships generally covers full tuition, uniform, school supply and text books. Aid is given for the following high school year.
After the application forms are received, some candidates will be invited to an interview with the R.O.C Scholarship Program Committee.
Acceptance of an award obligates the recipient to:
• Maintain a high standard of work, conduct and community involvement
• Have transcripts/report cards sent to the R.O.C Scholarship Program by his or her school after each semester,
• Keep a close relationship with R.O.C Scholarship Program through correspondence email, phone calls and
• Advise R.O.C Scholarship Program promptly of any change in his or her academic or financial situation.
Every award is subject to revocation if, in the opinion of R.O.C Scholarship Program, the holder fails to live up to these requirements.
BEFORE YOU CONSIDER APPLYING: Please note that applicant interviews are scheduled on extremely short notice in July and are usually held in Kingston and Montego Bay. R.O.C Scholarship Program will not pay any transportation charges or other costs of applicants who are invited to be interviewed. No grant is awarded by the R.O.C Scholarship Program without a personal interview. However, submitting an application does not guarantee being invited for an interview, and being invited for an interview does not guarantee a scholarship.
